Twin

Trickster

Born as two fragile boys in a forgotten village, they were claimed by despair before they ever knew peace. Orphans of war, they wandered the wastes until death found them both in the same night. Their souls, unwilling to part, lingered in the void until they were drawn to King. When they begged for a second chance, King granted their request—but twisted it into a dark bargain.

One brother’s soul was fused with the other’s, bound to a single body that could split into two for only ten minutes at a time. The other was cursed with a gift of shadow-walking, able to teleport only through connected darkness. Their bond was unbreakable, their existence unnatural. From that day forward, they became known as Twin, a single entity of two wills and one fate, soldiers of the Ring.

Motivation:

After King’s own victory silenced doubts of his power, he promised that only his finest creations and warriors would step into the Arena. Twin, feared for their unnatural unity and shadow-born powers, was chosen as one of the eleven Ring warriors to represent his dominion. To them, victory meant not just glory for the Ring but proof that their cursed existence had purpose.

Arena Style – The Tower of Trials:

The Tower rose like a monument of death, each of its eight levels demanding blood, wit, or sacrifice. Participants drowned in the Flooded Pit, were crushed in the Shifting Walls, burned on the rope bridge, or driven mad in the Hall of Echoes. By the time survivors staggered into the Duel Chambers, the tower had devoured nearly all.

Legacy:

Twin’s path through the Tower became the stuff of nightmare legends. In the Blind Arena, where darkness crippled the others, they thrived—splitting into two bodies and using the teleporting twin to strike unseen, vanishing from shadow to shadow until screams were the only guide for the living. On the Burning Bridge, they confused foes by splitting apart—while one drew attention, the other crossed unseen through the dark underside, reappearing in shadows where no one expected.

The Hall of Echoes nearly broke them. Illusions of their childhood, of their mother’s face and father’s hand, clawed at their fragile souls. But unlike others, they leaned on each other—two halves of one whole, whispering through madness until they pressed forward. By the time they reached the Duel Chambers, there were only four participants left: two from Kalamas, one from the Ring, and Twin.

The duel pairings were random—but fate seemed to bend around Twin. Each time the wheel turned, it paired them with humans who underestimated their curse-born unity. In the final duel, a Kalamas champion wielding a broadsword cornered them. But as one Twin distracted him in the open, the other emerged from his sword’s shadow, driving a blade through his back. The arena fell silent as Twin fused back into one body, blood dripping from their hands.

When they entered the Throne Room, no others remained. By technicality, and by terror, Twin became the new Champion.

They would forever be remembered as the “Brothers of Shadow”—not for overwhelming strength, but for how they turned every floor of the Tower into their hunting ground. After their win, the Ring reclaimed land from Kalamas, tightening its noose around the nation. And in the whispers of children at night, a story endured: Beware the shadows—for if you see one Twin, the other is already behind you.
