Before the Arena, before the rise of Kalamas, there was Maxwell “Medic Max” Ardon, a war veteran of the old world. He hailed from Pyro City, once a thriving hub of industry and trade in the south, long before it became the gateway to The Ring. In his youth, Max was not a fighter by choice, but a healer. As a combat medic, he had dragged countless men and women from the brink of death on blood-soaked battlefields. His steady hands and iron will earned him the name Medic Max among his comrades.

But when the undead first descended upon Pyro City, no medicine could save the ones he loved most. In the chaos of fire and screaming, his wife was torn from his arms, swallowed by the shadows. That moment hardened his heart. The man who once swore to preserve life was now driven only by vengeance.

When the undead leader, King, proposed the Arena games as an alternative to endless bloodshed, Max was one of the first to volunteer. His comrades tried to dissuade him—he was no longer young, and the Arena was rumored to be a slaughterhouse. But Max was unshaken. For him, it wasn’t about glory, wealth, or survival. It was about revenge.

The Arena Style: Hide & Seek

The very first contest of the 1Up Arena was a cruel creation. —a brutal hide-and-seek match where survival itself was the prize. The “hiding teams” had to last until the timer reached zero, while the “seeking teams” hunted them mercilessly.

Medic Max led a small squad of survivors into the game, using every ounce of his military experience. For hours, they evaded, ambushed, and outmaneuvered the hunters. But as the minutes bled into hours, the battlefield shrank, and escape became impossible. Three seeking teams closed in on Max’s squad, surrounding them.

That’s when Max made the call that would seal his legend.

Instead of waiting to be crushed between enemies, he flipped the rules—turning from hunted into hunter.

His squad stormed forward, striking first. With their vaporizing rifles, they burned two full teams of the undead into ash. But the counterattack cost him dearly: one by one, his allies fell until only Medic Max remained.

Bloodied, exhausted, and cornered, Max found himself facing the final undead squad—four against one. He fought like a man possessed. With precise shots, he vaporized two enemies, reducing them to smoke and embers. But the last two closed in, lunging at him with claws outstretched.

Max raised his rifle, but the weapon clicked empty. There was no time.

The undead closed the gap.

Then—the timer hit zero.

The arena roared to life as the remaining undead dissolved into smoke, banished by the rules of the game. In the center of the field, barely standing, Medic Max was crowned the last survivor.
